French
Welcome to French at St Peter’s Catholic Primary. We believe that language learning should be a positive experience for every child, supporting confidence from the very first lesson. Our approach focuses on clear progression, building listening, speaking, reading and writing skills step by step as pupils move through primary school.
Our French lessons are designed to make learning enjoyable and meaningful. Children practise everyday vocabulary through songs, games and short speaking activities, so they can quickly start using French in real-life situations. Teachers use engaging resources and regular opportunities to repeat and refine key language, helping pupils feel secure and motivated.
Parents can support this learning at home by encouraging small, regular practice. Simple activities such as repeating classroom phrases, discussing familiar topics in French, or using age-appropriate online resources can reinforce what pupils learn in school. With consistent effort and our structured progression, children gain both skills and enjoyment, preparing them for future language learning beyond primary.
